The Snaith School Cluster co-ordinator: Sarah Mallinson

Partner Schools:

"An extended school is a school that recognises that it cannot work alone in helping young people and children to achieve their potential, and therefore decides to work in partnership with other agencies that have an interest in outcomes for children and young people and the local community. In doing so it aims to meet not only the school’s objectives but also to share in helping to meet the wider needs of children, young people, families and their community."
Dfes 2004

Our schools work with local providers, agencies and each other to provide access to a core offer of extended schools which are available outside of normal school hours, the services that we offer are in response to the local community’s needs and wishes. The core offer consists of five areas:

CHILDCARE

All schools are able to signpost parents to appropriate childcare in the area, and some of the primary schools offer childcare in the form of breakfast and after school care on site.

STUDY SUPPORT

There are a wide range of activities on offer throughout the cluster of schools from Chinese to Tag rugby for girls. See the study support timetable for a comprehensive list of activities.

REFERRAL TO SERVICES

All schools have procedures to refer students on to specific services and The Snaith School offers a confidential pop-in for any student with the school nurse once a week.

PARENTING SUPPORT

Family Learning sessions are available in all of the schools in the cluster at various times during the school year, some of the courses on offer are Grandparents' IT, Family Gardening, and Helping Your Child with Maths. Parenting courses also run throughout the year, 'Family links' aims to support parents of younger children and 'Getting to grips with adolescence' is aimed at parents of teenagers.

COMMUNITY USE OF THE SCHOOL

Whether you fancy learning a foreign language or need to update your computer skills, our schools can help, we even offer courses in buying and selling on E-Bay. For a full list of courses available see the attached flyer.

Schools also have excellent facilities available for the community to hire at reasonable rates, please contact reception for more details.
