Sport at Snaith, does it vary from physical education in primary schools?

That is a question what pupils ask when entering Snaith school, the answer is yes! There will be new teachers, and sports you may have never played, but ultimately it’s still the same lesson you love.

In year 7 you will get two lessons of P.E., for the boys it will most likely start of with football with either Mr Simm, or Mr Wilson. For the girls it will be netball with Miss Montague, or Miss Bundy.

During your first year at Snaith, you will have swimming and change over. This is only done over a short period of time, and while half the year is at swimming, the other half will be mixing football/netball into rugby. Whilst having lessons of rugby, an opportunity to join the local rugby team will pop up, this is usually around October time. Leading up to Christmas P.E lessons will consist of training sessions of cross country, this is to prepare for the cross country after Christmas, which consists of endurance, and stamina.

After cross country, the sports will return back to football, netball and possibly rugby. Whilst, the top runners in the cross country will compete in another cross country at Scunthorpe, to represent the school.

In summer time, new sports such as tennis and badminton will appear; these two sports you may have done at your previous school. A new activity you may or may not have had will be athletics. Athletics consist of running; 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m. It will also hold long jump, high jump, triple jump. You may retake several of these things again to try and beat your personal best, or even the best recorded at school.
