Subjects > Business
Business is a popular subject at all levels (60% of all college and university courses are in a business related subject) it is very likely that at some time in the future you will find yourself studying it! All jobs are in a business of some kind and the skills and knowledge learnt from a business course will be of value to yourself and make you attractive to an employer.
This subject looks at the way that businesses are set up, financed, organised and controlled, how people are recruited and motivated, how goods are developed and marketed and how governments and organisations help or hinder business.
With the new extension to the school the department has moved to two purpose built computer rooms vastly improving the facilities available.
Two courses are outlined below, the first is assessed mainly through examination the second mainly through coursework.
Progression
Business Studies at GCSE leads well into ‘A’ level and Applied ‘A’ level Business courses, Economics, Finance and Law. It is also good preparation for office type work and any other job. A considerable amount of pupils who take the GCSE course continue with the subject at College.
