Years 10 to 11

We are introducing a new qualification that can allow the pupils to achieve 1, 2 or 4 GCSEs. We will start this qualification in Year 9 with AiDa leading to CiDa throughout Year 10 and 11. Some of the pupils could achieve DiDa.

IT MUST BE STRESSED: THERE IS AN EXPECTANT 4 EXTRA HOURS OF ICT WORK A WEEK OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL THAT IS ASSUMED IF YOU TAKE THIS COURSE

Award (AiDa), Certificate (CiDa), Diploma (DiDa)

What is the course about?

DiDa is the Diploma in Digital Applications, a revolutionary innovative suite of three paperless qualifications that focuses on the practical application of Information Technology or Digital Media. Unique in its scope, philosophy and course structure – as a suite of qualifications it progresses from Award (AiDa) through Certificate (CiDa) to Diploma (DiDa), providing a truly future proof path for ICT learning.

Who is it suitable for?

All pupils who have a keen interest in:

  1. Website Design and Web Authoring using Macromedia Dreamweaver software
  2. Web Graphics using Macromedia Fireworks
  3. Communications Technology - emailing, television, radio technology, scanning, using a camera and video communications
  4. Finance and Spreadsheets
  5. Databases for marketing
  6. Pupils who can work independently to find solutions to set problems
  7. Create a complete electronic on-line portfolio of work
  8. Be able to manage projects over a period of weeks and meet set deadlines
  9. Be able to reflect critically, evaluate and enhance improvements to projects
  10. Have a good attendance record because the course is 100% coursework and you will require all the time available to produce the evidence required to meet the deadlines

What will I study?

The course is revolutionary in education terms because pupils will not submit paper based projects as in the past. The specification consists of:

UNIT 1: Using ICT (AiDa)
UNIT 2: Multimedia
UNIT 3: Graphics
UNIT 4: ICT in Enterprise

Pupils must attempt Unit 1 for (AiDa) Units 1,2 and 3 or 4 for CiDa and all four for DiDa. Computer at home with emailing and internet facilities is a must.

N.B. Each UNIT is a substantial piece of work
